听枪花开始就只听那么几首歌，而这首《Don't cry》则是听的最多最多的。我首先得承认自己的伪摇民身份，虽然听的基上都是rock n' roll，但是也基本上每个人，每首歌都听过就算，很少有喜欢某个乐队某个人而为之癫狂的情况。因此摇滚的那些事，那些永远理不清的流派，发展脉络，我自己也一直都没弄清楚也永远都弄不清楚。 Gun n' Rose，枪花是大陆的叫法。涅磐乐队，准确地说，是科特－柯本在很多人心中是神，不过也许在更多人心中，枪花是神。柯本之成为神，撇开其音乐来讲，他的死，消极中决绝的自杀，我想是更重要的原因，就像另一个神－－格瓦拉－－也因为他的死，虽然是积极的抵抗，让他们在世人心中的形象越来越高大，越来越抽象化，越来越符号化，他们成了他们的崇拜者萃取提炼并经过某种化合之后的某种精神代表。我们都很熟悉的beyond的黄家驹，差不多也是这种情形，相当长一段时间，他也是我心中的神，不过平心而论，家驹他们代表的摇滚精神，音乐的成就，都无法达到柯本这样的高度，也许，这是因为亚洲儒家文化两千年的浸润的缘故。话说回来，枪花不用死也成了神，在于他们的音乐，在于他们不像柯本那样用那么激烈的态度去表达他们的独立以及对抗，我想，他们有更随性的个性，他们更能适应摇滚乐完全商业化并大众化的规则，而且，他们在这个规则下，玩得很很很不错。
看看他们的成绩。他们曾经创下了音乐历史上处子作专辑的最高销售纪录，拥有史上最伟大的摇滚乐专辑之一的《毁灭的欲望》(Appetite for Destruction)，拥有两张专辑同时成为Billboard 200排行榜冠亚军的神话，而《Don't cry》则是他们创造的一个最大的神话－－在billboard 排行榜上停留147周，而三年，也就是156周而已，想一想，你有哪些歌是一直听三年的，特别是pop乐迷们。
听枪花应该是在大二或者这之后的事情，因为那之前的我还在搜集beyond的专辑，各种各样的，包括哪些demo带，然后就是唐朝，张楚，黑豹，鲍家街。。。。。。还有那时候没跑去台湾唱独立的盘古。认识C是因为Z的介绍，那天Z告诉我他有个朋友很喜欢摇滚，我们应该会很划得来。其实正式认识之前我就知道C了，那时他在寝室弄了个大音箱，要么练bass，要么大声地放各种嘈杂的声音。第一次见面在Z那里，那时是冬天，我们确实一见如故，喝了很多，C喝醉了，跑去厕所后就不出来了，后来去了几个兄弟才把他弄回来弄上床去。我们一起躺在Z的床上，不记得还说了些什么，第二天起来我的那件给他盖着的外套又被他吐了一塌糊涂。C 是一个比我理想主义得多，为自己的理想非常非常投入的人。他是物理系的，但是在大四的时候，他决定要去考美学的研究生，我不知道他是因为摇滚而喜欢上文学，还是因为文学而爱上摇滚，总之，我们的谈话，常常在这两者之间夹缠不清。就在和他的交往中，我听摇滚乐的方向，转向了一个更广阔的世界，《Don't cry》则是这世界中一直让我迷醉的一朵玫瑰。

在简单而缓慢的吉他分解中，rose的歌声开始轻柔地叙述。整首歌没有让人情不自禁地沉醉的solo，也没有让人热血澎湃的激烈节奏，但是确实非常成功地营造了一个很blus的氛围，让人迷醉，虽然有人说枪花是布鲁斯金属，但是这首歌，的的确确没有blus的方格，有的，是那种味道，blus，一个与蓝色有关的，与忧伤有关的调调。那段醉心于玩游戏的时间，每次妖妖要下线告诉我说我要走了，我只是用这首歌的那两句歌词回答她：Give me a whisper and give me a sigh，Give me a kiss before you tell me goodbye。Say goodbye but don't cry，我想我们都是，比较纯粹的人都会在一些虚拟的东西上获得更大的快乐，我想我们都是，擦肩而过之后留下的，是一段那么美好的故事，一段他们都知道的而却没有人能复制的故事。你应该在现实世界中有比这个故事完美的生活，不用谁来告诉你don't cry，baby。
枪花另一首经典的摇滚情歌《November rain》，开始的那段钢琴，像一个人单独在某个睡不着的秋夜，听窗外打着树叶的小雨。整首歌的旋律，以及那大段的吉他solo，都让你在这个睡不着的雨夜更加满腹心事，更加让你在孤独的包围中让孤独浸着雨水一点点地将心填满，直到清晨雨停了，屋檐上的雨水滴滴答答地慢慢离你而去，你才会在蓦然而来的强烈思念中迷迷糊糊睡去。
