人生不相见， O，'t is hard for pals like us to regather
动如参与商。 Like Shen and Shang in turn appear at night
今夕复何夕， So after tonight, when will be another
共此灯烛光。 As now, we delight in candles' and lamps' light
少壮能几时， So short is the time for which our youth can stay
鬓发各已苍。 For now we both are aged and hairs are gray
访旧半为鬼， Old friends of which a half pass'd away
惊呼热中肠。 The grief in heart is beyond words I can say
焉知二十载， Twenty years pass'd and how can I be so blest
重上君子堂。 For tonight' reunion and being your guest
昔别君未婚， Then, the latest time we met, you got no bride
儿女忽成行。 It seems sudden that children surround your side
怡然敬父执， Kids politely talk'd with me as Father's friend
问我来何方。 And they ask'd from where did I come over
问答乃未已， The questions and answers were far from an end
驱儿罗酒浆。 While you call'd them to bring the wines here
夜雨剪春韭， For meal, you reap'd the leaks newborn in rains
新炊间黄粱。 And rice you cook'd,two kind of savoury grains
主称会面难， On table, you sigh'd for hard to meet again
一举累十觞。 Ten cups of wine to toast you did remain
十觞亦不醉， Ten cups of wine increase my sorrow
感子故意长。 For friendship and your sincere affection
明日隔山岳， Mountains will disjoin us tomorrow
世事两茫茫。 'T is not easy for us to get connection
